SE Nebraska, Near Misery and Cans Ass!

nyjim - 11/17/2023 03:50 Our local creamery closed in 1954. I have old farm records that we got our first bulk tank the same year. I was born in 55. I remember that first tank. Don’t recall how big it was but I’m guessing 4-500 gallon. When we built a new barn in 67 we put in a 750 gallon meuller Wasn’t long and the coop was wanting everyone to go to every other day pickup and we got a 2000 gal. First picture is from around 55 and second picture is about 67-68.

Last can was filled here in 65, . Miss the old chilled bank cooler for mellons and other stuff. It ran in the old wash house for 10 years after! Left the Dairy in 97 and miss it almost every day! We had an excellent facility and it was enjoyable to be able to take good care of everything in bad weather! Just too small and too close to the Creek for expansion.
