Really curious what regions stuck out the longest shipping in cans. Our area was divided, one large dairy forced shippers to go bulk fairly early, sometime in the 1950s, and there are still old folks who will complain about being told they had to invest in a pipeline and tank. Other markets remained on cans into the 1970s.
I know the Amish still milk into cans in some areas, but as far as I’m aware that milk is pooled centrally into a community bulk tank.
