southern MN | Some airport printers can be set up to be their own hotspot. This allows your iPad to see the printer as if it were a router, and connect to it wirelessly. Without an actual internet or router involved.
I hesitate to try to list what does or doesn’t work this way. Read the specs carefully, or get intelligent answers from the sales clerk on this. I think a lot of printers currently do this, but research it.
I think you could set up a spare router to run a printer as well, you wouldn’t need the internet. But, why involve an extra piece of hardware if you don’t need to.
