Both sides of the Mason-Dixon Line | It's been a while since I've ordered a computer. I've never received formal training on computers, but I do have alot of expereince with trying to use computers with precision ag electonics (something the don't teach at our local community college). So, I'd make sure it had Windows XP, and Microsoft Office (this includes programs like Word and Excel, which are useful for recordkeeping and office type stuff). If you think that you may be working with precision ag type stuff in the near or distant future, try to get a card slot, and a 9 pin serial port(if they are still available). Also a docking station is super nice when you want to transfer your laptop between your truck hood and the desk. I might get flamed by some computer geeks here for not using the right terminology on some of these descriptions, But I'm just recalling some of the things that our "IT Specialist" fails to think about when he orders computers for me & my coworkers.
