| I asked our CIH service manager about the supposed bad backing plates & he couldn't find a service bulletin on the subject. He did place a call to a CIH planter rep & evidently there may be something to it. Rep was suppose to call him back but I haven't heard any details yet. They did send a tech down today & went thru our 1240. Meter drives were all in line. Tech did say the meters pulled harder than he liked but were within specs. One thing he did tell my son was to run plenty of graphite, 1# per bulk hopper. He also said he felt the meters would loosen as they got some age on them.
Right now the only other thing I know to tell you is to carry a few extra drives with you in case you break some. That's what we're going to do - once it dries up enough to get back in the fields. If I hear anything I'll post back
