Eastern VA. No such thing as too many Magnums.
I think it holds between 3 and 4 lbs. 8 oz of oil should be plenty assuming he got all the old oil out. Replace the receiver dryer under the cab now too. Pull as hard a vac as you can for 30 minutes. Small hose is high side, its usually closest to the engine if it's original style compressor. Now would be a good time to switch from the Delco crap compressor to a Sanden or ND if he's not already thought of that. Harold Electric in WallaWalla, Washington has pretty good deals on compressor and retrofits if he hasn't bought parts already.
