Subject: Manitoba Flax Growers???

St. Gregor, SK, Canada
I hauled my flax in a while ago to Viterra, and lo and behold, there's a substantial checkoff from something called "Manitoba Flax Growers".

It's 0.5% of the value of the crop... at $12 / bu, it's $0.06 / bu, and that's $1.20 / acre.

After a bit of searching of Manitoba's law archives... I found this tidbit:
http://web2.gov.mb.ca/laws/regs/2008/119.pdf

I can get my money back. Great!

Now, these guys have no website, no newsletter, and I had to google them to find a phone number.

Calling gives you messages, and nothing else...

Does anyone here know anything about this orginization? I've heard of the Flax Council, and support their objectives, along with the Canola assoc, Forage seed assoc, and the Pulse Growers... but I don't support some shadow-group grabbing money from my pocket!!!

Thanks,
Chris
