That study is on drones from 2017 on some very strange models. Dragonfly DP-12 model is only two rotors, and very heavy at 220kg. The ICON drone only weighs 30kg but uses a strange rotor configuration I've never seen before, 4 arms, 2 rotors opposed on each arm. Yes, the spray droplet size is horrible, both over 100um. Now look at more recent model. The DJI Agras MG-1. Eight rotors, eight arms. 130-250 um droplet size. 8m/s operating speed. Would like to see a study on it. Regardless, the height and speed of the drone during application will always affect the spray pattern, maybe more importantly any crosswinds should be compensated through the drones software.
