Subject: Re: Inject exhaust gas in the ground

Medora, Manitoba
There are dozens of these units working in western Canada. The exhaust from the tractor is ran through an air to air cooler and then ran back to the air intake on the air seeder fan where it is mixed with the incoming air and then injected into the ground with the seed. The only seed that it will not work with is flaxseed, and that does gum up the hoses, personal experience. We ran a unit for the last two years, and think that we saw good results. We did reduce our nitrogen bill by half, but we are doing top dressing according to tissue test results. Our yields were as good and a lot of cases better than our neighbours. This year we have imported a Tobin high speed disc drill from Australia, and will not use the exhaust system. We will still top dress, and so we will have better idea by fall if is the exhaust system , the top dressing or a combination of the two that gave us our good results.
