It's really a lot different than full width tillage. The old root mass is undisturbed which is a great thing for building soil. It takes less fuel than conventional tillage and the fertilizer can be indexed to the row. Still, the 30" or wider guy is going to spend less on tillage than a narrow row guy and realize a greater cost saving.
