What kind of trailer is it? We never had any trouble with the semi being too light, even when we pulled A-frame trailers. Lost the whole hitch one year in Great Falls (note to self: if a $6/hr. wino tells you he can weld, don't believe him immediately, make him prove it!). If you're going to use pretty much any kind of drive-on trailer, most of the weight will still be on the trailer axles.
