I think you can only turn area on and off if the planter is unplugged. Otherwise it counts acres when you're seeding, and doesn't count when there's no seed flow. Try unplugging the planter harness from the tractor harness and I bet it will work. This feature was so that you could count acres with the monitor when doing other things besides planting.
