Subject: 2000 ford f150 looses power steering

just a tish NE of central ND
So, I take a small trip and all is well, and after a while of travel I must turn right on an intersection and discover that if I idle the engine below 1000 RPMS I have no steering , (almost overshot the intersection)If I rev it over 15-1800 I can once again steer it fine. Im thinking I have thin steering fluid as it seems that if it idles while I am inside a gas station, it will again steer for about 2 or 3 miles of highway travel and then slowly loose sterring as it warms up again. Fluids are full, belts are tight, the pump sounds like a new pump.....? What gives here?It reacts like I have real thin oil...... BUT WHY all of a suden would it pull a trick like that?Steers fine at sartup.
Remedy's anyone?,
