The key thing in 'Maximerge' is the gauge wheels right beside the disk openers and seed release point.
Pervious planters gauged deapth with the covering wheel, way back behind.

Also new were the dual angled small covering wheels.

Before Maximerge a pretty good share of planters did not have disk openers, but runners. Mostly dealing in WELL tilled dirt.

By 1985 the 7000/7100 was getting up in years. Pretty sure the vac 7200/7300 were out sometime in the 85-87 time period.
