When my son changed his he used an air chisel. Said it takes about 30 minutes but doesn't burn any seals out. Putting new one on takes about minutes.

Maybe hold it with needle nose vicegrips?? We've got a cutter wheel that goes in a die grinder for cutting bearing races but don't know as there is enough room for that in there.
