Take a coolant test kit with you. If the readings are way low, it means that the SCA levels were not maintained and you could be looking at expensive cavitation problems on the engine.

With proper maint, a 7.3L engine should be able to do 300K miles.

I can't advise you on the 4-speed automatic. Never liked automatics behind a diesel unless they're the Allison transmission.
