I would recommend spending some time and registering at cumminsforum.com. It would be worth it and helps you understand the truck much better. The popping on the floorboard could be a loose shock bolt possibly at the bottom. They require major torque to squeze the shock tight. Could also be a-arm bushings, kind of depends on when you hear the popping. The steering column shroud and black dash cover are very easy to remove. For the dash face, simply pull towards you (back of truck) to remove. Inspect the wires in the dash column for the light issues. Goodluck
