to just replace all the springs and get it over with.

I believe that they are around $9-$10/spring so for around $20/row you'd have new springs just like a new planter. Solve the problem just the same.

 

By the way how tight do you have them? We've got a 10 row 6100 thats 15 yrs old and usually break 1 or 2 per year.
