Subject: RE: Tested a Stalk Puller (pics) - flat ground

South-central Nebraska
They work very similar to a rolling stalk chopper. A ridge allows the trash to "sift" its way to the bottom of the furrow leaving a somewhat clean ridge to plant on. Immediately after running either implement across the field, it will be pretty fluffy until settling in the furrow. Many guys around here like the stumper because the planter units have less bounce on the ridge due to the absence of root balls. Row cleaners often knock the root ball out of the way leaving a divot to plant in.
