| Check the fuel/water separator assembly (clear bowl with fuel in it). It should be mounted behind the right side step if the 40 series is the same as the 00 series. Disconnect the lines and remove it from the tractor. There's a good bet some larger dirt pieces got lodged in the filter head. You'll be able to see them and blow them out backwards onto a rag with compressed air to make sure that you found the problem and don't have to worry about looking farther. I don't like blowing junk backwards towards the tank with the lines connected because you'll just get into the same trouble again in a little while. If you don't find a bunch of junk collected there, disconnect the lines going to the separator at both ends and blow back towards the tank into a rag. If the junk is caught in the tank hosebarb you'll be able to tell that, too, because you won't get a good stream of fuel pouring out of it. Also, if he's got junk in his tank, get him to tell whoever is filling it with fuel to clean the fuel can nozzles off before pouring fuel in the tank. We get that here a lot.
