Deere rep told me that the concept worked good in some crops but was seriously lacking in others and with the present designs used by Deere , they covered all bases fairly well. Said Deere could not justify building a combine that was not universally adaptable to the crops grown in their market.
Farm economics sure have changed. Deere even used to make a full line of potato equipment, but now there are too few potato farmers to justify that, I guess.
