central sask | Macdon sold swathers as Macdon, Premier, Prairie Star and in the 80's-early 90's as John Deere and Case IH, ? maybe others as well. The 7000's were available with a 36' triple delivery header. Most common were the ones sold as a Case IH 6500, built from 86-93, they have the 80 +- HP Cumins 3.9l diesel. A 6000 is the same but with a 30' header.
After these came the {8820, 25, 30,small frame, mechanical/hyd header drive}, [40,50,60(hp),70 and 80's large frame, high HP, full Hyd driven headers, All Heston/Case IH joint venture built, Almost identical to the new Heston/Massey's.
I had a 97 Premier 2930 (Macdon 9300) 30' trip del. A very good swather but the 960 headers get thin/weak/brittle and need some beefing up after a while. The extra (aftermarket) gauge/height wheels on the very ends are a must.
Now running a 00 Case IH 8860HP w/honeybee 36' and an 07 HESTON 9240 w/Agco 30'. Both very good headers, cant pick one over the other. Cut 2200 acres of canola (20-35 bu/ac) in 4 days (in the rain, perfect conditions for canola cutting) last fall. | |
