I think that almost all the trailers around here are 8'6" (102") wide. They work great, but you must remember that most trucks have the tires set at 8' and the trailer will be wider, so they will not track in the same ruts. Most logging trucks around here are ordered in with 8'6" wide axles so the trailers and truck are the same, it cuts down on getting stuck in extreme conditions.

I have a regular tractor and wide trailer and get along fine with it. The wide trailers are much more stable on corners.
