Thumb of Michigan | We had an applicator with BJ coulters on it. The applicator itself was made by another company.
We got over quite a few acres before we had much maintainance needed. We had to rebush them once. Seemed like a lot of money to buy plastic bushings, but they were the only game in town. Other problem that comes to mind was that they had a poor shut off, but I think the new ones are better. As we owned it ourselves, it probably got greased much more than rental units. The bearings were OK, but we put 80-W-140 in the hubs rather than greasing them. Replaced bearings and seals when they needed it with Timkens. The rental units are always out of adjustment, I didn't have an extraordinary amount of splashing after they were adjusted correctley once. I sprayed everything down with things like PB Blaster at the end of the season as well as the beginning, never had trouble with bolts setting up. | |
