Little River, TX | Of course the ideal most efficient house would be completely underground and not even be noticeable with grass growing right on top. Heating and cooling costs would be next to nothing. Perhaps a small central transom skylight to let sunlight in.
Believe it or not in summer you may need an air conditioner or dehumidifier. People do things in the kitchen and other rooms that produce a lot of vapor.
They told me to build with 6 or more feet of dirt over the structure. By the time the winter cold arrives it is summer and the summer heat is felt most of the winter. I would suspect you who on occasion get more than 6 feet of frost may have to go even deeper.
Wife told me I could build one just as soon as she was past caring. Until then I was not going to put her in a hole in the ground! | |
