Subject: RE: Field Work Pic, that looks familiar

Huntley Montana
Back in 95 I had won the use of a CIH 8950? 250 hp MFWD & was ripping beet fields that were harvested on the "damp" side. Was pulling up chunks as big as a small car. The JD dealer was demo'ing a 8300 in the area & had showed up & were watching me rip with a 9 shank ripper. They were not too impressed with the 8950, so we hooked the 8300 on the ripper. After a round/2 they were a little more impressed with the 8950. Both tractor were having the same problems, but the CIH was doing about the same as a 2wd, because the ton of front weights on the 8950 was about 1/3 of what it needed that day as you could see air under the front tires from 1 end to the other. & the 8300 was running about the same HP. Neither tractor was able to move the ripper more than 2-2.5 mph Honest ground speed.
