| Cannot comment on the JDs as we run a different brand of 4wds. We had one with p.s. & one without. We traded the two off for one larger one & went with a gear transmission as we very seldom used the p.s. feature on the older 4wd. The p.s. was about a $14,000 option on the new trsctor. Personally, I don't miss the powershift, ours was an agrravation as when ever you stopped the tractor it statred over in 1st gear :~(. Was a real PITA when going thru town at stop signs & lights. By saying you want on with p.s. & pto evidently you plan on using it on a grain cart? That would be the only reason I would want a p.s. in a 4wd but then we only use ours for disc ripping, applyin AA, & running a field cultivator. There may be other perations besides on a grain cart where a p.s. would be nice but not in our operation.
BTW, as you see you're not the nly one that does fall tillage. We each have to do what is the best for our situation.
