| Unfortunately the mechanic who checked it out is not around today so I don't know if the motor turned over at their place or not. Also, Tom called this morning and told me he thought he was selling a good core - I didn't remember the term 'core' used at all and expected an engine that would run (maybe not a rebuilt with a guarantee, but not a core).
Based on Bern's comments it's likely that the pistons are stuck and stuck really hard. I'm going to try a little (I mean a lot) of wd40, but even it breaks loose it's likely going to need a rebuild and then should I rebuild this motor?
Rats, I was almost 'there' but all is not lost, just more complicated now.
