Subject: RE: 90% of the time we use a U-20 flat fish.

Kittitas Co. Wa. State

We're fishing anywhere from 175 to 350 feet deep using electric downrigger 100% trolling. Some guys jig for them but that's pretty tough at those depths. Takes an awful heavy jig to get down that far, and with the boat movement, almost impossible to jig straight down that far.  Mac's are really lazy hog type predators, they 90% of the time just sit almost on the bottom however deep it is and ambush their pray.

Not real fighters, but supurb eating!

Bonus,, there is NO limit on the mac's, you can keep all you can catch. NO limits at all, Lake Chelan is 55 miles long and 2000 feet deep (or so) and the Game Dept. wants to thin the herd so to speak, and try reintroducing salmon to the lake. Thou there is NO outlet to the Columbia river or ocean so the salmon were artificially introduced into lake Chelan before.  Game Dept "thinks" (not good when a gov. agency thinks..) Mac's eat all the salmon, they don't. 80+% of their diet consists of mysis shrimp. (very small freshwater shrimp)
