IF you are running over ridgetilled stalks in the fall with a "root puller" then what I said above is not applicable.

Just the development and existence of "root pullers" is an example of how ridgetill has changed in the past 20 years or so.

Originally the goal in ridgetilling into cornstalks in the spring was to separate the stalk from the rootbal and just plant right down the top. However corn plants have evolved genetically so that in many cases the stalk just does not separate from the rootball as easily in the spring as it used to years ago.

If you are using a root puller then many other row cleaner options will work. That is basically worked ground.

I was assuming the old style ridgetill without using a stalk puller pass in the fall.
