Subject: F-350 new clutch problem????

tennessee
Just put a new South Bend clutch in my truck today. Started it up and noticed a roaring sound coming from the clutch area, all noise stops when clutch pedal is pushed in. I take it up the road for a test drive and i don't here anything when at road speed but when taking off or coasting to a stop it kinda sounds like gear chatter??? coming from the clutch area. It goes into gear fine, no slippage, just the roar/chatter sounds. My buddy that helped me put it in thinks we may have the clutch disk in backwards, could that be it? I thought we had it turned the right way. Any ideas that will help me not have to pull this thing out again, it's not that fun of a job to me--please help. This is a 96' model with the 5-speed ZF tranny.
