Subject: Active Hydraulics..Rod end of cylinder

Need to add active down pressure to the wings of our Orthman Strip-till bar to transfer some weight from the center section and still allow them to follow the terrain. Orthman suggest running the wings in float, what a joke! And 30 foot rigid bar is just too bick for our country, . Back to the question at hand, the wing cylinders sit inside the tool bar frame and extend when folded and retract in the operating position. I was going to plumb an active down pressure block to transfer some weight but I can't think of a single ag application where they are applying constant pressure to the rod side of a cylinder. Is there a reason, other than the possibility of premature seal failure, not to use the wing hydraulics to transfer weight?
