Subject: Purging hydraulic systems

I have a backhoe attachment that I would like to turn into a three-point hoe for my tractor, but want to make sure I don't contaminate my tractor hydraulics with whatever is in the hydraulic lines or cylinder on the hoe.

I assume pulling the lines off the cylinder and draining them would be a good start. What about the cylinder? Just pull the lines and compress the cylinder?

After I get all the old oil out of the lines and cylinder, is there some way of getting oil back into the cylinder and lines without introducing a lot of air?

Any comments appreciated.
