I think weight balance was the bigger reason, those tractors left the factory with 51/49% weight split so they could go to the field without having to add any weight. I know the 6788 we had would outpull an MFD tractor which was 20hp and several thousand pounds bigger than it was because it could put power to the ground so much better.
