SE North Dakota | I should clarify myself. Autotrac drove a straight line on the level with track tractors without terrain compensation. When wheel tractors were brought in to the mix, they would "S" down the field, even on the flattest of fields. Terrain compensation corrected this, thus Deere had a one time program to "give" all current autotrac owners a TCM, no matter what tractor they had. The program for the steering controller on wheel tractors was then written so that autotrac would not be functional without terrain compensation on the receiver. Track tractors would still autotrac without a TCM, but wheels would not. That was at least 5 years ago, I don't know if it is the same still, probably not, I haven't been around these things for a couple of years now.
