Virginia | Wilton's are good but don't overlook Columbian vises. Rigid also has one that I like but I can't tell you the model of it.
Be sure to look at the throat depth as well as the jaw width and opening depth. Also pay attention to the material used in construction. The weight of the vises could be compared as well.
A local machinery dealer recently went out of business here and they had about 6 vises -- all of them were Columbians. A 6" with 10" opening brought $450. A new one would have been over $1000.
