Exactly what we did with ours......after screwing up a time or too. Brother would always switch it to #3 when he got in the machine until he did it once.......he agreed with my choice immediately. When trying to keep up with several combines with platforms or one in good corn things can get hairy with a 22" auger.

The grain cart auger ALWAYS gets folded in. The combine auger sometimes stays out in corn if it's the only machine if the corn is running really good. Dad ran the graincart one fall and decided he wasn't going to put the auger in on the grain cart. One collision with the combine auger due to assisting with a breakdown ended that. Neighbors found out the hard way as well. Their hinge cracked and the auger darn near fell off.
