Depending on how your terrain lays and your header width, it might not be neccesary, you can just lock the float on the head up and cut like a rigid head. If you have countour master (lateral tilt) you might not need them even in terraces.

We have cut with ours locked up once or twice, when we have had tire or wheel bearing issues and got along good on flat ground.

The wheels sure are nice though...
