Grand Rapids, MI | goto start-->run: type in msconfig then click the startup tab. You will see a list of stuff that loads and runs everytime you startup. You can uncheck stuff you want to disable from loading at startup. If you want to redo it later, you can just go in and re-check it. Some programs load parts of themselves so that when you click on them, they load faster. Most of these you can uncheck. If you don't konw what stuff is, just google it. There are a couple databases out there that break this stuff down.
I would also do a defrag on your HDD, although I doubt that fragmentation is causing that sort of delay.
Beyond that are you up to date on virus protection and done a recent scan? Also do you use a anti-spyware program that is updated and scanned regularly? | |
