It is a common problem with 31 series Cats. 3116s are worse. O-rings leak between injector and the injector cup letting fuel into the cylinder when it is not running. If you don't shut it off, it won't leak. We have about 30, 31 series engines in the fleet and at least 1 sometimes 2 a year will leak. Oil samples reveal the leaks. Mitchco.
