JohnW,

just want to say that disc opener are the standart in South America and even in Australia they are starting to switch to disc opener as they have reached a level with the hoe opener which they can't elevate more. For the understanding of the effects and what No Till can achive one of the best sites is: www.rolf-derpsch.com. Basicly all No Till peoople say that if you want to be successfull and realy harvest the benefit of raising OM and retain moisture you have to use systems with the least soil disturbance you can.
Look at the Pacific west coast, washington state and you will see that the majority of continious high yields are achieved with disc drills, quiete sophisticated. In the early 90's the custom made Yielder drill, a monster of mashine but quiete durable, was the standart. Now it's the Cross Slot system which outcompetes in most times any other system, be it disc of tine.
You will se that Horsch will in the near future offer a disc system as a option to the Anderson boot. They are woring on it, be shure about that.
