Ethridge, TN
I'll give you some comments on the Martin opener. Have 24 of them on a Kinze 3700, putting down the gallon range you are talking, but using 32%. They work.......BUT...... do not try and use the 2x2 setting. You can go the 2" off the side, but don't try for the 2" below the seed. At the same height as your seed opener, things will take it. Trying to go lower, you are going to start bending things.

First year out, we did the 2x2, and half way thru planting were ready to toss them in the junk pile. Bent parallel linkages on the planter, and even bent the shank of the UMO itself. Bearings going out of the disc blades on a daily basis. Shearing the bolts off that hold the blade to the hub. They won't take that stress. Raised them up, finished that year, went thru them over the winter and completely rebuilt them, and the following year had very few problems. Second year was mostly from springs on the knives that lost tension and wouldn't hold it in place correctly. Think most of those were from where we overlooked that part of he problem in the winter rebuild. I just redid them for this year, and changed all the springs out. Figure the blade and the knife have one more year left in them, and next year will have to replace those parts.

Will have run the planter over about 10,000 acres with them on there by the end of this year when we get done. Around 416 acres per unit.
