I have an 8970. Same problem. Deere wanted to rebuild fuel pump $3,000. My hired hand is a diesel mechanic and diagnosed the problem with the cummins motor. It was actually a sensor for $240. Local Deere dealer has been trying to put a 60 series direct throtle on all the 70 series that are acting up. Cheapest fix is replace the sensor. Deere doesn't carrie the sensor. Call cummins.
