I used to have a DJI car charger for my old drone. Never used it but it looked to be well made. From the failure you describe, I wouldn't guarantee that any charger will have different results. I think it is very possible that your 12V power point isn't up to the task, either too small wires or poor contact and the heat melted the end of your plug.
