Subject: Re: size of tires on jd 4440 for planting with 22 inch rows

When i first started plalnting i used 20.8 x 38 on the planting tractor. Never seen a problem that would repeat itself in a pattern, Secound year i had 14.9 x46 duals and it works like a dream , Hope you have the wide axles on the 4440. They have three ways to build those tractor then ,narrow , std. wide, . I have a 4450 std. and it needs rear axle spacer to get the dual to run correctly. The front on the 4450 has offset front rims to run in the center of the row. These tractor has the std. axles on it. I have 4640 with the wide set up and everthing works cleaner with that. .
Wont' worry about the 18.4 when set correctly in a dry or year but it would bother me in a wet one.
hope it helps
