Subject: RE: old reliable has a leaking clutch cylinder

Mine's a 2000, and the slave cylinder starts leaking every 30,000 miles or so. It's internal (inside the bell housing), so this $50 repair turns into a $700 repair. My mechanic has decided that it's easier to pull the engine than the tranny (4wd and all), so that's what we do. Usually replace the clutch and p plate while we're in there.....I bought the truck with 35 k miles on it. and have done it twice since then--in about 5 years....now showing 80k miles. One would think that Chevy, or some aftermarket group would come up with a better cylinder and hookups, to deal with this problem, but I haven't found anything better than OE replacement parts.....grrrrr......showboat
