I use green treated 2”x4”’s and green treated plywood for mine with galvanized nails and it last a long time. I do like the idea of using an old feeder lid on top of that also however, good idea. That’s on my things to do today is pull one of those old lids out of my scrap iron pile and put it over my existing lid, sure can’t hurt it :-).
