NC Iowa | so i have a 3 cylinder 3tne78a. i run it in the shed last fall. this spring wont start. spews black smoke but never takes off. i had a experienced diesel guy out look at it, and he is suspecting it got out time somehow, or the advance in the injection pump got out of wack. he ruled out preheater and fuel system. he is going to pull the injectors and check compression, but is leaning toward something out of time in the pump.
this is the same engine that is on the john deere f1145 mower
looking for possible thing that could go wrong, all by themselves.
