Subject: 1666 grain tank repair

Bourbon,Indiana
Checking over the machine I found cracks on both sides right where the grain tank bevels are located in the front corners(the corners directly above & in front of the front unloading auger). One is just starting to crack. The right side, however, is gapped 1/4" and 3" long. Is this normal on a 2650 hr corn & bean machine? I just added a bin extension 2 years ago. Would the extra weight haved caused this? I have not heard about any problems in this area.
My fix is to bend some flat iron and 3-4 bolts above & below the crack. Think this will do the trick? My concern is if there is weight issues from the bin extension. I'm not sure how to reinforce this area which hangs out from the edge of the frame quite a ways. I hope you guys can give me some advice.
