The 972's and 973's will cut super low to the ground, when the first 972's were buillt they had a different guard angle than the present ones and this made them able to cut about 2 inches below the ground. Tough on combine tho, so I'd recommend the skid shoes on the ends to prevent the ends from digging when turning or on hills. The 960's and 962's have a higher cutting bar than the first two I mentioned
